The Wasmuth Quartet – Jonathan Ong, Dorothy Ro, Abigail Rojansky and Warren Hagerty- have won numerous accolades and awards, and have performed across the United States and in Europe. Within five months of their formation, they received 1st prize at the Kuttner String Quartet Competition in Bloomington, Indiana, and won the Silver Medal in the senior division of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The Wasmuth Quartet were also the Grand Prize winners at the 2013 Coleman Chamber Music Competition and the First Place and Audience Choice award winners at the 2013 Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competition. In May 2014, the Wasmuth Quartet won the Bronze Medal at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan. Other recent appearances include the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on National Public Radio (NPR-WFIU), Candlelight Concert Society, “Music in the Loft” concert series in Chicago’s historic Fine Arts Building and as the string quartet in-residence at the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Germany, where they performed and studied quartet literature with preeminent Haydn, Beethoven and Ligeti scholars such as Dr. Armin Raab, Dr. Emil Platen and Dr. Louise Duchesneau. The Wasmuth Quartet was also recently visiting guest artist at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music’s inaugural 2014 String Quartet Intensive and Festival as well as the Indiana University String Academy. They most recently performed on the Indiana University Summer Concert Series.
In addition to their performance commitments, the Wasmuth Quartet members are strong proponents of music outreach and education, and have an ongoing residency in Danville, Illinois, where they give numerous recitals over the course of the year and work with developing young musicians on performance and practice skills. The quartet were also recently on the judging panel for Indiana University’s String Quartet Composition Competition.
The Wasmuth Quartet are currently the graduate string quartet-in-residence at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where they are pursuing a Performance Diploma in Chamber Music under the Pacifica Quartet. Their mentors include Atar Arad, Alexander Kerr, Ik-Hwan Bae, Kevork Mardirossian, Eric Kim, Cliff Colnot and Jerry Horner.
